This morning it was in the low 40's when I headed to the woods. Planned on hunting the state ground where riverrat and I scouted. I got over there and there were 3 DNR vehicles parked where I wanted to park. The guys were just standing around talking, but I just drove past knowing that they would be in the woods doing something later in the morning. I drove to the new hunting ground that I got. It was after day light when I arrived. I got ready and made the walk to my climber stand. I climbed up to around 20 feet and got seteled in as the wind started to pick up. I thaught to myself I don't have enough cloths on for this. At about 7:10 a small 8 pointer comes in and starts milling around the stand. He was within bow range for at least 45 min. I do have some pics. of him that I will post later, but it is taking forever for them to load onto imagestation. On my moniter I can not see him in any of the pics., but this moniter sucks. I can see him just fime on the camera lcd display.
About 5 min after he finaly leftI heard a grunt in the area that he disapeared into. I did not think anything about it because I knew it had to be the same buck. I started to see a little motion in the brush, and still did not think anything about it. Then out steps a 125-130" 10 pointer. My bow was hung on the side of the tree and I was no way near ready to take a shot. He just kind of trotted thru without a care in the world, and without giving me a shot opertunity even though he was within 10 yards fora second or 2.
It wasn't too much later and I was too cold to stay in the woods. I came home and ate 2 boles of veggy soup that I made late last night, and layed down thinking I would just lay there long enough to get warmed up then head back out. Bad thing was I fell asleep and did not wake back up until about 20 min ago. It's too late to go back out, but I'll be dressed warmer, and be in that same stand at 1st light in the morning.
